Week 4
The time is just flying by! I can’t believe it’s Week 4 already. We are very busy learning in the classroom and playing outside. On Monday we go to PE and Music, on Tuesday we learn Italian and on Thursday we go to the i-Learning Centre for library time.
SCHOOL PHOTOS THIS MONDAY!!!!
Make sure you are on time and looking your very best for school photos this Monday.
Library
We have been going to the library on Thursday after lunch to read and borrow books. If you haven’t brought your library bag to school yet, remember to bring it for Thursday so you can borrow a book to take home.
Home Reading
Each child now has their Home Reading bag. They are a bright gold yellow and have reading record books inside (the Yellow Book). Please keep a daily record of your child’s reading in the Yellow Book. There are instructions on how to fill it in on the first few pages of the book. Please make sure you write in the date and title of the book every day.
Fruitilicious Fridays
The school is providing fruit for the Preps to eat on Fridays as part of our Fruitilicious Friday program. A different fruit is provided each week to encourage children to taste and enjoy a range of this healthy snack. This program will run for the first half of the year. So far we have tasted apples and bananas.
Fruit in the classroom
Children are allowed to eat fresh raw fruit and vegetables at anytime in class. Please ensure your child has some of this brain food with them everyday.
Water bottles
Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school each day so that they can have a drink in class throughout the day.
Butterflies
Our caterpillars are growing bigger by the day and we will soon put some photos up for you to see. They are quickly munching their way through all of the lemon tree leaves I bring to school for them.
The caterpillars were black, brown and white when they were smaller but they are now green and HUGE! We’re watching to see any changes. They are growing very quickly – almost 5cm long already!

Week 2
What a great start to the year! We are settling in nicely, making new friends, trying new activities and getting used to the routines and expectations of school.

This week we have started our specialist program this week for the students. On a Monday our class has PE with Mr Kendall straight after lunch followed by Music with Mrs Sheeran to finish the day. And on Tuesday mornings between recess and lunch time we have Italian with Signora Di Sera and Signora Naccarata.
Home Reading
Next week we will be sending Home Reading bags with the students. These will include:
• a book for your child to read either independently or with support as needed.
• Yellow Book to record your comment about your child's reading.
Notices
* From now on all notices will be sent home in your child’s yellow Home Reading bag.
Please remember to return notices to the classroom teacher:
• Permission form for child’s image to appear in the newsletter, website or class blog.
• PMP assistance form, we still require parents to assist us with this program.
• Class Contact list
Parent Interviews
This Wednesday and next Wednesday afternoon Prep teachers will have brief meetings (approximately 10 minutes) with parents to find out more about their children.
Please ensure that you have signed up for a time to meet with your child’s teacher on the doors outside the entrance to the Prep classrooms.
Butterflies
Last week we received some butterfly eggs in the mail from the Melbourne Zoo. We are watching, observing and monitoring how they grow and change from eggs to caterpillars to butterflies over the term. They have already hatched and doubled in size. They are enjoying eating the leaves of my lemon tree.
We’ll keep you posted on how they are going.
Have a fantastic week!
