Term 3 Week 3

Welcome to Term 3 - it is going to be a busy one!

This term our focus is being safe, with our unit of learning called 'The Safe Way'. We are hoping to have many visitors come and talk to us about ways we can be safe. So far we have had Responsible Pet Safety people come and visit with their dog Snowy. We learned the safe way to behave around dogs we don't know.

Swimming
Swimming Lessons at Leisure City in Epping have begun and the children are really enjoying the opportunity to learn about being safe in the water and how to swim. It is lots of fun!
*Make sure you bring a beanie to put on after swimming to keep your head nice and warm

Make sure you watch The New Inventors on Wednesday August 11th to see one of our students and her dad on the show. Especially if you like to go camping.

Fairytale Ball

We had a fantastic time celebrating the end of term with a Fairytale Ball. The students, teacher and some parents and little siblings looked absolutely fantastic dressed up as fairytale characters. There were wolves, princesses, bears, princes, knights, kings, a frog, Jack (from Jack and the Beanstalk), Little Red Riding Hood, pirates and one of the Billy Goats Gruff.
We paraded around in front of a big audience of family, friends and grade 6 buddies. The paparazzi were out in force taking lots of photos. Then we did the dance we have been learning, we even got to dance with some of our family and buddies.
After that we went back to the Prep Gallery for our special banquet. Yum!
What a super way to finish the term! We hope you all have a very relaxing and fun holiday time.

School's Birthday

To celebrate Yarrambat Primary School's birthday, we sang 'Happy Birthday' to the school. The two youngest preps get to blow out the candles and this year they were from our class, Logan and Chloe. Well done guys!

Term 2 almost finished - Fairy Tale Ball approaching

Ciao!

As Term 2 comes to an end I begin to wonder where the year has gone.

We have had lots of fun participating in our Fairy Tale theme and are looking forward to our Fairy Tale Ball on the last day of term. I am still deciding what to wear. It should be a great day, hope to see you there in your costumes!

Just a reminder we are going swimming on the first Tuesday of term 3 and we are looking forward to that beginning.

Have a relaxing and restful holiday and thank you to everyone for their help this term and reading the blogs.

Cooking Gingerbread Men

We loved reading the story of the Gingerbread Man because it meant we could do some cooking! We worked with Prep O to read the recipe, mix the batter, roll out the dough and cut out the raw gingerbread men. The teachers put them in the oven to cook and made sure they didn't jump out and run away! Later when they had cooled down we got to decorate them. The best part was taking them home to eat. Yum!

Term 2 Week 5

Welcome to Term 2!

It's been a while since this blog has been updated.

We celebrated the last day of Term 1 with our Prep Breakfast. Lots of parents and friends came and helped serve the breakfast for us. We loved coming to school in our pyjamas and were really happy that lots of parents came in their pjs too.

A huge thank you to all of the parents for their help for during Term 1.

We are well and truely immersed in our Fairy Tale Theme.
We are lucky enough to have Bennetts the Builder. He has enjoyed making us some pig houses, a troll bridge, wands and gingerbread men.
What fun we have had decorating them!! Our pig houses have even featured in the newsletter.
We are looking forward to our excursion to Anakie Fairy Park on May 28.

We are also planning a Fairy Tale Ball for the last day of Term 2. It is still in the planning stages and we will give you more information about this in the coming weeks.

We are also hoping to have parents come to school during the last week of term and read their favourite Fairy Tale to their child's class. Hope you are able to assist us with this.

We hope to include photos in the next blog. Stay tuned!
